MAHAVELONA PRIMARY CARE HEALTH CENTER RENOVATION - CSB2 

(Centre de Santé de Base - Niveau 2 - MAHAVELONA,  ANKAZOBE)

Villagers in rural Madagascar obtain primary health care at the  Centre de Santé de Base, Niveau 2, also referred to as CSB2. when they are sick or there is no maternity hospital close to their village, they go here.  CSB2s often are staffed by a nurse, a midwife and occasionally a doctor. They are government employees. The majority of these CSB2s are located in remote areas where it can be difficult to supply enough materials to operate the center more effectively.  The majority of the buildings are rather old. Among them is the CSB2 in Mahavelona,  Ankazobe District which was built in the 1930s.

Due to budget constraints, we could not do much for the CSB2 in Mahavelona but we were able to repaint the whole exterior of the building and repaint the postpartum unit room which was in a deteriorating condition.  We were also able to renovate a few of the beds and provided three brand new mattresses, two metal cabinets, two foldable tables, six plastic chairs and replaced the curtains that separate the Postpartum unit section with the vaccination unit area.
